PC Craig Tinker is planning his and Faye Windass’s wedding in forensic detail. He’s even found a magazine with a wedding dress he believes Faye will like. ‘Who do you think I am? Katie Price?’ is her reaction. Plans are also afoot for Nina Lucas’s secret bash. In order to throw the birthday girl off the scent, Summer Spellman and Aadi Alahan lie to Nina about having to babysit, which earns Summer the nickname Nanny McPhee from Amy Barlow. When there’s a mix up over the party venue, Aadi suggests a street party. Amy points out it isn’t the Coronation, although she may not realise the cobbled street she calls home was named after the Coronation of King Edward VII.
Summer and Amy are pleased with how well they’ve done up their old flat as an alternative party venue. ‘Harry Styles will be hiring us to decorate his box room next,’ jokes Summer. Meanwhile, Dua Lipa is Hope Dobbs’s pop star of choice as she does a karaoke version of the singer’s 2020 track Levitating. We discover it’s already the eighth song the mic hog has sung and she’s keen to do Harry Styles or Becky Hill next.
At The Rovers, Faye tells Craig she doesn’t want Sally Metcalfe to get involved in their wedding planning because she’ll end up dressed like Little Bo Peep. Then Jackson Hodge sheepishly emerges from the toilets and builds up the courage to confront Craig. He randomly calls him Craig David, taking us from Bo Peep to bo selecta in a matter of seconds. You need to re-wind your neck back in, Jackson. At Nina’s party, Amy is sick of Aaron Sandford taking all the plaudits for providing the party venue. She sarcastically compares the flat to Ibizan superclub Amnesia, which is a good call given how he acts like he’s forgotten what he did to her.
Speaking of Ibiza, Ryan Connor thinks he’s texting Crystal Hyde in the Balearics. It’s actually Daisy Midgeley, trying to give him a romantic fillip while he’s recovering. He sends her a clip from the cringeworthy episode of Selling Sunset he’s watching. Daisy is behind the bar at The Rovers when she watches the video, attracting the attention of Shona Platt and Carla Barlow. ‘I don’t start the drama, I just finish it,’ fangirls Shona, quoting the reality show’s star Christine Quinn. Carla says the real estate agents on the show are a bunch of backstabbers, but Daisy observes that they tend to stick the knife in face to face and the daggers are made by Versace.
Hope is happy to see the back of her visitor Eliza Woodrow, but Tyrone Dobbs doesn’t pick up on Hope’s stink-eye vibe. Eliza offers to teach Hope how to play the guitar and Tyrone suggests joining in because he’s always aspired to be Noel Gallagher. ‘Minus the monobrow,’ he adds. Hope looks back in anger.
Coronation Street episode 10936/37. Originally aired 24th April 2023.
