Tyrone Dobbs has serious misgivings about the way Kevin Webster is tackling the problem of Stefan Brent. He reckons Kevin’s subterfuge is like something a James Bond villain would get up to. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service And MOT, anyone? Meanwhile, Joseph Brown has a group of his friends round for tea. His dad Chesney gives them kebabs and chips, which elicits an Apocalypse Now-inspired comment from an appreciative youngster called Omari. ‘I love the smell of fried food in the morning,’ he says, before condemning one of his schoolmates for not catching the reference to the 1979 Vietnam War classic. It’s certainly preferential to Joseph’s pals looking at the food on offer and shouting ‘The horror. The horror.’ Bernie Winter jokes that having kebabs on the menu – albeit leftover ones from Prima Doner – means Chesney and Gemma are living like the Beckhams.
At The Rovers, Sally Metcalfe arrives looking resplendent in a new dress. Her husband Tim greets her as ‘Lady Chatterley’ and suggests they should go straight home. The pair have always been fans of role play and Tim quickly imagines a fantasy scenario where he’s a stable boy, ready to attend to the lady of the manor’s every need. But his plans for shenanigans are scuppered when the lady of the manor… sorry, I mean Sally… explains that the reason she’s all dressed up is she’s going to the unveiling of Tommy Orpington’s new bust at Weatherfield County.
