Bobby Crawford is really making himself at home at Carla Barlow’s place, raiding all the food cupboards and kicking back with a kung fu movie. Paul Foreman, on the other hand, is pondering life’s big questions, like whether Bigfoot is real. There’s a Bigfoot in the latest series of The Masked Singer – is this a meta clue that Peter Ash, who plays Paul, is the man inside the furry creature’s costume?
Bobby’s takeover of Carla’s flat continues, as boxes and boxes of his belongings arrive in a van. They include rare vinyl records and various musical instruments. The neighbours are going to love him. When Carla gives him money to buy fish and chips, Bobby responds with his take on Dirty Cash (Money Talks) by The Adventures Of Stevie V. Meanwhile, Daniel Osbourne and Daisy Midgeley have their first amicable conversation since they split up. Daniel tells her his son Bertie loves the Bluey Treehouse she bought him for Christmas. The playset includes figures of Bluey the puppy and her younger sister Bingo from the Australian animated series.
Evelyn Plummer is annoyed when she finds herself stuck with Stu Carpenter at Speed Daal. Yasmeen Metcalfe eventually turns up, only to be met by a volley of sarcastic gratitude from Evelyn for keeping her waiting ‘with Captain Birdseye’. There’s no refuting the resemblance between Stu and the seafaring ad mascot, although the former’s culinary skills go way beyond grilling fish fingers. At Viaduct Bistro, Todd Grimshaw baulks at the idea of drinking mulled wine. ‘Christmas is over,’ he says, in a funereal tone. Billy Mayhew immediately denounces his ex as a unfestive Grinch/Ebenezer Scrooge troll.
